1959 Ford Galaxie

This 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner HARDTOP CONVERTABLE was refinished in black during the early 1990s and prior owner added approximately 40k miles and used the car for cross-country touring with the Vintage Motor Car Club of America. The prior owner installed a 351ci Windsor V8 and a column-shifted four-speed Ford AOD automatic transmission approximately 15 years ago, and the red, black, and white interior has been fitted with a manually adjustable bench seat. Other features include a retractable hardtop, 14" wheels with covers, front disc brakes, electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, an alternator, an aftermarket radio, and air conditioning. This modified Skyliner is now offered with a removed radio, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Texas title. The car left the factory in Raven Black (A) and was refinished in the early 1990s. The passenger-side rear quarter panel was repaired and refinished following damage sustained in 2010, and although urethane-based paint was used at that time, the rest of the car wears a lacquer finish. Imperfections in the paintwork are noted particularly in the fenders and doors, and each panel is shown up close in the photo gallery below. Black 14" steel wheels wear chrome-finished covers with red, white, and blue accents as well as Coker Classic whitewall tires. Disc brakes have been installed up front. The powered front seat was replaced, by the last owner, with a four-way manually adjustable split bench seat, and plastic covers protect the red, white, and black upholstery. The interior is equipped with air conditioning as well as an aftermarket AM/FM digital radio, and the removed factory radio will accompany the car. A white three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer flanked by auxiliary gauges and warning indicators. An aftermarket temperature gauge is located in the glovebox. The five-digit odometer shows just over 86k miles, approximately 40k of which have been added over the past 25 years. True mileage is unknown. The hardtop retracts into the trunk area, which features a patterned liner as well as a white cargo container with a red Skyliner-branded cover. The neutral safety switch was modified so that the power top will operate when the car is being driven at low speeds. Rust is noted in the spare-tire well at the rear of the car. A 351ci Windsor V8 installed by the seller is finished in red and features finned Cobra-branded valve covers in addition to a chrome air cleaner. An alternator replaces the generator, and an electronic ignition system and an aluminum radiator have been fitted. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed Ford AOD automatic transmission, which was installed under prior ownership and is cable shifted via the steering column.
